Academic Role

AI and Cybersecurity Governance Subject Matter Expert Dave Chatterjee, Ph.D., is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, where he teaches in the master’s and executive-level cybersecurity programs. He also served as a tenured faculty member in the MIS Department at the Terry College of Business, University of Georgia, and received Recognition for Exemplary Service by the University of Georgia (April 21, 2025).

His expertise spans the facets of information technology management — from technology sense-making to implementation and change management, data governance, internal controls, information security, and performance measurement — built around the Commitment–Preparedness–Discipline (CPD) Framework. His current focus is AI governance, cybersecurity governance, and enterprise digitization.

Author & Publications

He is the author of Cybersecurity Readiness: A Holistic and High-Performance Approach (SAGE Publications) and the best-selling cybercrime thriller The DeepFake Conspiracy. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, MIT Sloan Management Review, California Management Review, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, and Business Horizons, and has been featured in Forbes, Business Insider, Chicago Tribune, Yahoo Finance, and USA Today.

He has reviewed and edited numerous scholarly and practice-focused papers submitted to top journals, and served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Organizational Computing and Electronic Commerce (JOCEC), an international peer-reviewed research journal published by Taylor & Francis. From 2018–2022, he served as Senior Editor, managing cybersecurity submissions.

Certifications

He holds the NACD CERT Certificate in Cyber-Risk Oversight from NACD (National Association of Corporate Directors), the Smart Cities and Critical Infrastructure Security Professional (SCCISP) credential from the IoT Security Institute, and the Certificate in Cybersecurity (CC) from (ISC)².

Industry Engagement

Dr. Chatterjee has served on the corporate and community leadership board of a prestigious CISO network and on a CISO SWAT team. He produces and hosts the Cybersecurity Readiness Podcast Series — video playlist and audio playlist —a reflective, jargon-free discussion series aimed at raising global cybersecurity awareness at the individual, organizational, and national level.

He travels worldwide speaking to audiences ranging from practitioners and academics to students and the general public, including keynote addresses, corporate webinars, workshops, TV and radio interviews, and CXO panel discussions.

Teaching & Recognition

Dr. Chatterjee has taught with distinction at all levels — undergraduate, professional, executive MBA, and Ph.D. — including in the Terry College Professional and Executive MBA programs and UNC Chapel Hill’s Global OneMBA program. His honors include Outstanding Executive MBA Professor of the Year and UGA Outstanding Teaching Faculty Honoree, and recognition from the UGA Career Center for his contributions to MIS undergraduates.

He received Thank-a-Teacher recognition from UGA’s Center for Teaching and Learning twice in 2023: January 10 and May 23.

He chaired and served on major university and college governance committees, driving improvements in unit performance assessment, course offerings, and program competitiveness.
