Specialist - Supply Chain Leadership Program at Acuity Brands
Jan 20, 2022 Happy New Year! I just wanted to say hello and hope you are doing well! Since you were my BPM and IS Leadership professor, I figured you would enjoy hearing that I’m on my company’s business process improvement and transforming services team! I’m still in my supply chain leadership rotational program, and these next 6 months will actually be my last rotation, but the team I am with is essentially in charge of business process improvements for the entire company. We are currently working on transforming and sort of re-imagining our supply chain, so there’s lots of hard work to be done. I practically swim in process maps and value stream maps now and often remember the many lessons and discussions I learned from your classes. It’s really neat to remember discussions in class around concepts like how does an IS leadership team prioritize projects when they are being asked to work on a million projects; how do we bridge the gap between technology teams and operations teams to make sure they are communicating; how do you critically think through a process end-to-end and map it out in a way people can visually understand it; how do you even ask the right questions to properly map out the process; I could go on…but it’s neat to remember all those conversations from class and now sit in meetings where those things are being worked out in my company. Thanks for planting the seed and creating the foundation for me to learn how to critically think through processes. It is already paying off for me! All my best, Sydney Sydney Hasler Supply Chain Leadership Program Acuity Brands Lighting, Inc.
